The eMachine ET1161-05 computer is a competent PC running the Windows operating system. There are a number of ways to open the DVD tray on the eMachine, some of which require that the computer has been turned on. The procedures are straightforward and do not require any expertise, making them ideal for use by the computer novice. None of the procedures will damage the eMachine or the DVD tray.

Right-click on the icon of the optical disc on the desktop. Select Eject from the pop-up menu. Wait as the DVD tray ejects itself automatically from the eMachines mechanized DVD drive. Remove the optical disc from the top of the tray. Press the DVD drives Eject button on the front of the eMachine to close the DVD tray back into the front of the eMachine.

Press the DVD drive Eject button on the front of the eMachine. Wait as the DVD tray pops out. Pull the DVD tray fully out and remove the optical disc from the top of the tray. Push the DVD tray back into the front of the eMachine until it clicks closed.

Straighten out a paperclip and insert an end into the hole at the bottom right corner of the DVD tray on the front of the eMachine. Push the end of the paperclip into the hole until the DVD tray pops out. Remove the paperclip. Pull the DVD tray out. Remove an optical disc from the top of the tray if one is present. Push the DVD tray back into the front of the eMachine until it clicks closed.
